On this week’s episode of the Project Upland podcast Steve Snell of Gun Dog Supply joins the show to talk about hunting season, the history of Gun Dog Supply, gear, gear, and more gear!
Steve Snell is President and part-owner of Gun Dog Supply. He’s also a passionate upland hunter, a bird dog man, lover of gun dog hunting and training gear.
Gun Dog Supply has been family owned and operated in Mississippi since 1972. Their persistent focus on customer service and the end-user, along with their ability to adapt with a changing marketplace, has solidified their platform in the dog training and hunting supply industry.
Steve is an avid quail hunter and spends a lot of time hunting his string of bird dogs in Texas. Steve gave us a bit of a recap on his hunting season so far, as well as a look ahead at the prime of the Texas quail season in December, January, and February.
Steve and I chatted about current gear offerings on the market, as well as the state of the hunting dog gear industry. With the onset of a new year, Steve touched on a few manufacturer’s plans for the coming year and hinted at some future possibilities for hunting dog gear.
Steve also answered some listener questions we took via facebook about specific gear items and/or solutions to problems with current equipment—including a burning question many grouse hunters have about GPS collars and beepers.
